Tasmania Roadtrip - Week 4 - Whale Sculpture

It is only a 500m walk from our Cockle Creek camp to the Whale Sculpture and the start of the Fishers Point walking track. This is a life-sized 3 month old Southern Right Whale which were common in Recherche Bay until the whaling industry almost wiped them out in the 1800s. Today they are protected but they have never recovered their numbers in this bay.
